  • Provincial Day of Action on Litter

    NORTH GLENGARRY, Ontario - The Provincial Day of Action on Litter is celebrated on the second Tuesday of May each year in Ontario.

    We are taking action to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills or becoming litter by bringing awareness to the impacts of waste on our environment and encouraging people to take action at home and in their community to help keep our environment clean and healthy for generations to come.

  • Community Living Month "May"

    During the month of May, Community Living Glengarry is promoting public awareness of the physical and social barriers that keep individuals with developmental challenges for participating in the social, recreational and economic world around them. 

  • North Glengarry Passes New Strategic Plan

    North Glengarry Ontario – On March 2nd and 3rd, North Glengarry Council met off site to engage in the strategic planning exercise for the new term of Council. Every four years, Council sets their priorities for the term, in the form of a Strategic Plan. The former Council approved the Strategic Plan in 2019, with three goals and objectives: infrastructure, assets, and services. 

  • North Glengarry Businesses Receive Funding through My Main Street

    Ten main street businesses from Alexandria and Maxville have received support via the My Main Street Local Business Accelerator program. 

    Congratulations to the following 10 local businesses on being recipients of a My Main Street non-repayable contribution of $10,000 to support their main street businesses.

    This year North and South Glengarry have partnered with the Saint-Vincent de Paul Society Food Bank to help collect non-perishable food items.
  • IHA Canada Inc. breaks ground on Glengarry Hills Senior Village in Alexandria

    Alexandria, ON – September 8, 2022 - IHA Canada Inc. held a ground-breaking ceremony on September 8, 2022, celebrating the start of construction of a unique senior living community in Alexandria, Ontario — Glengarry Hills. IHA Canada established a vision of “Building a Better Future for Seniors in Canada” three years ago and are very pleased that that vision is becoming a reality right here in Alexandria, located in the Township of North Glengarry.

  • Glengarry County Archives Celebrates Official Opening

    ALEXANDRIA, June 17, 2022 – Wednesday night the Glengarry County Archives celebrated its official opening, despite having been quietly open since July of 2020. However, with regulations changing due to COVID-19 the Archivist, Allan MacDonald wanted to wait until the new location could be honored properly.

  • Weed Harvesting to Begin Mid-June at Mill Pond

    Township collaborated with the Raisin River Conservation Authority and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans on a program to reduce this invasive perennial in a limited area of Mill Pond. The removal of the weeds from Mill Pond is scheduled to start after June 15th, the earliest date allowed by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

  • Township of North Glengarry announces revitalization of Alexandria and Maxville through partnership with My Main Street

    Alexandria, Ontario – April 21, 2022 — Today, the Township of North Glengarry is pleased to announce that the Villages of Alexandria and Maxville will be participating in the Government of Canada’s My Main Street Local Business Accelerator program to help revitalize our main streets, providing a total of $57,500 in non-repayable contributions to support local businesses.
