Notice of passing By-Law Number Z-01-2025
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of North Glengarry passed By-Law Number Z-01-2025 on the 24th day of February 2025, as an amendment to the Township’s Comprehensive Zoning By-law, under Section 34 of the Planning Act.
THE PURPOSE of the Zoning By-Law Amendment is to re-zone the subject property from General Agricultural (AG) to General Agricultural Special Exception 257 (AG-257) to add “Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)” as a permitted use within the General Agricultural (AG) zone to permit a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to be constructed on the property, and to add definition of a “Battery Energy Storage System” as follows: “A system that captures energy produced at one time for use at a later time to reduce imbalances between energy demand and energy production, and is directly connected to the electrical grid”.

AND TAKE NOTICE that any person or public body may appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal in respect of the By-law, by filing with the CAO/Clerk of the Corporation of the Township of North Glengarry, 3720 County Rd 34, Alexandria, ON, K0C 1A0, NOT LATER THAN on the 17th day of March 2025, at 4:00 p.m., a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the by-law and the reasons in support of the objection.
Only individuals, corporations and public bodies may appeal a zoning by-law to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal. A notice of appeal may not be filed by an unincorporated association or group. However, a notice of appeal may be filed in the name of an individual who is a member of the association or the group on its behalf.
Pursuant to subsection 34(19) of the Planning Act, an appeal must be accompanied by the prescribed fee ($1100.00 subject to change – certified cheque or money order), payable to the Ministry of Finance.
